Chase Total Checking is the most popular account among Chase customers. It is highly preferred due to its easy-to-meet requirements and zero account maintenance fees.
Fees
In the event of not meeting the requirements, a monthly fee of $12 (equivalent to $144 per year) applies. However, meeting the requirements is remarkably simple. If you meet any of the following three conditions, you won’t have to pay any fees:
- Electronic deposits totaling $500 or more into the account.
- A checking account balance of over $1,500.
- A combined balance of $5,000 across all Chase accounts.
Minimum deposit
There is no minimum deposit required to open the account.
Cash withdrawals at ATMs
You can withdraw money from Chase ATMs without any fees. However, using non-Chase ATMs incurs a $3 fee for each cash withdrawal.
Zelle
Chase Total Checking allows you to conveniently send and receive money using Zelle.
Chase overdraft assist
You won’t be charged an overdraft fee if your account is overdrawn by $50 or less at the end of the business day. If your account balance remains overdrawn by more than $50, bringing it back to $50 or less by the end of the next business day will also waive overdraft fees.
Early direct deposit
With direct deposit, you can receive your money up to two business days earlier.
Bonus
Chase Total Checking offers a generous welcome bonus of $200. To qualify, make a direct deposit into your account within 90 days of coupon enrollment. Your direct deposit must be an electronic deposit of your paycheck, pension, or government benefits (such as Social Security) from your employer or the government. Person-to-person payments (such as Zelle®) do not qualify as direct deposits.
